this is a list of things that made the year 2012 perfect for me.
cheers to you, 2012, you were pretty damn fabulous.
getting down to the nitty gritty of my latest branding project for soigné feast facilitators, they are an “anti-catering” catering outfit out of california wine country that promotes the authenticity and originality of a family meal. i’m really stoked to finalize this logo and get their business cards printed. just gotta work out those mischievous little details.
The Letter | Editorial Design
CONCEPT: The challenge was to create an iconizing spread for Teen Vogue Magazine based on an object of significance in our life. The article is written on a letter that was written to me from my mother when I was 5 years old. By using a scrapbooked-made-from-scratch theme, a nostalgic feeling is reflected between the story and visual image as a whole.
hello fellow tumblebees,
i am specifically trying to reach out to other designers, but anyone who can offer advice on this subject is welcome to put their 2 cents on the table. i bought my first slice of online real estate recently and wanted to find out about hosting my website domain on tumblr. i have been familiar with this platform for years so that is why i am leaning this way rather than wordpress or anything else. i would like my site to have maybe three pages; blog, design, and contact info.
i just need opinions from those of you who have your site hosted here on tumblr. do you like it? pros/cons?

what makes you satisfied? what makes you your best? one thing i wish i knew before i started at fidm is to embrace what i loved doing. that sounds silly because i was there because i loved design, of course i loved it. but i’m talking about the not-so-obvious. i’m talking about this little word niche. what are you good at? your niche can be your signature in design, the little element that leaves the essence of you. your mark. i have been hearing this word a lot lately and am really glad to of had an instructor that told me to embrace my niche when i was trying so hard to try other styles and techniques in design. she saw that i loved my creative process to start from scratch, and be polished at the end but still keeping that handmade feel. so i embraced it and made it part of my brand essence. i learned that it was vital to be capable of varied looks & feels, but never lose sight of what makes you the most happy with your design. what makes it you? it’s important to recognize this and even more important to OWN IT because it’s what makes your work, yours.
A snippet of some of my most favorite pieces of the last year and a half. This is a page dedicated purely to my work, so follow if you please. There will be lots more to come. Thank you everyone for your support!
[more to come!]

Packaging Design | LFZS Skincare Collection for guys brought to you by NYLON MAG
CONCEPT: I made this skin care brand based off of the names of my four brothers, Lucas, Forest, Seth, and Zach. Its a series of four products packaged in to a larger box with a diecut in the back to showcase the description of the products (not shown..yet). I love the style and layout of Nylon Magazine and wanted to incorporate their essence while taking a step away from my more feminine design approach by doing a men’s collection. Yes, this could be more masculine, however it could also be too masculine or the same old “pretty” shit I usually create. So its a good start, right?
Side note: I do not work for Nylon (unfortunately) this was a class assignment completely made up in my head.
“JUST MY TYPE” VALENTINES
Featuring Times, Comic Sans (AKA..Forever Alone), Helvetica, Impact, and Arial.
“JUST MY TYPE” VALENTINE’S • HELVETICA
So my graphic design classmates are in for a typographical treat tomorrow. I kinda don’t want to give these pretty little things away!
I’m excited! In 10 weeks, on March 15 at the Apple store in San Francisco I will be presenting my best designs. Until then, I will be dedicating all my time to making sure this portfolio is a perfect combination of creative expression and exquisite presentation. Gotta admit I am a little afraid of the coming weeks, I know I will be even more frantic but just thinking about getting these things done makes me happy. Each day is another step closer to being able to say I DID IT. 3..2..1..go.
Forest: I like the middle one
Me: Me too!
Forest: The first one looks like something a small town wanna be would have
Me: But I am a small town wanna be.
Forest: Nope
So this is obviously my personal logo assignment. These are the 3 ones I loved most of my sketches this week. Shown in color/grayscale. So, if you agree with my big brother, raise your hand. I actually like the first two the best. Don’t care that much for the last, but these are all first drafts and will be developed more in the next week or so.
